Mailbox Monday – January 9

Mailbox Monday is on tour here at my blog for the month of January. To find out more about the history of Mailbox Monday and a list of future hosts visit the Mailbox Monday site.

Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Please leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky below.

For the first time in ages I didn’t receive any books in the mail or buy any books locally. It was bound to happen eventually because I have been taking a break from review copies and am going to focus on my own shelves for a while.

What did you receive last week?

  1. I actually revel in those breaks now and then, Alyce. We can then almost catch our breath!

Thanks for hosting, and enjoy your week.

  2. Yvonne says:

    Hi Alyce,
Your are actually doing exactly what I keep threatening to do, but never in reality get around to, clearing some of my own shelves. Although of course, it is a foregone conclusion that I would only be making space for the excuse to go out and restock!
Have a great week and thank you so much for hosting.

Thank you for hosting Mailbox Monday this month.

  4. Leslie says:

A slow week can be a good thing. Now you can get caught up on those books for the Indie Lit Awards.

  5. Serena says:

I love those weeks where nothing comes in. I thought that this week would be one of those, but then 2 Indie Lit Awards books arrived. I hope you enjoy your books from the shelves.

  6. Mary says:

Enjoy your quiet mailbox week :)

  7. I’m sure you will find a long-forgotten gem to read right from your shelf!

  8. Things are slowing down around here too but, like you, I think that’s a good thing!

  9. Anna says:

I would have had a quiet week but I got some of the books for the Indie Lit Awards. Hope you have time to catch up on some of your unread books!

  10. I didn’t get any new books (other than a few downloads from Net Galley which have been waiting for me for a while) last week either. Actually, for the past few weeks, my mailbox has been slim, but I definitely need the break to catch up on review books that are already here and on my OWN shelves too .. kind of feels good to see some of the double-stacking going away in my TBR bookshelf!

It’s nice to take a break and play catch up. I’m sure you can find SOMETHING to read at your house. : )

  12. Amy says:

With 52 weeks in the year there’s bound to be a week or two in which most book bloggers don’t receive or buy any books. I didn’t take a total break from review books like you, Alyce but I have limited review books for the beginning of this year. I’m not sure what I’ll do the rest of the year but I am participating in TBR Double Dare so I focus on the books I have of which there are many I want to read!
    Happy Reading!
    Have a good week.

  13. Amused says:

Great idea! I’ve been thinking I need to stop taking any review books in so that I can catch up!

  14. Wrighty says:

I had the same kind of week but I couldn’t stay away from my library! Books are just too hard to resist. I hope you get lots of reading done and enjoy the goodies from your shelf. :)

  15. Thanks for hosting this month and happy New Year!

  16. An empty mailbox! It happens. Enjoy the books you already have.

  17. Tina B says:

Sounds like a lot of us are taking a break from review copies and trying to clean off the shelves. I’m really pleased with getting ARCs in E-format since they don’t pile up all over the house, and I don’t feel as guilty declining to review them after they ‘arrive’ since the publisher doesn’t have to spend a lot of $$ to get it to me.

  18. I like a break from the mailbox myself. These posts always seem to take me forever the more books I receive. :)
    Have a great week!
